Paper Hands, 2014 The group of work entitled “Paper Hands” has been created during 2013-14.  These works are all mixed color mediums, on newspaper, mounted on board.

This body of diverse styles, of drawn and cutout silhouette hands, showing some which seem dismembered or non-human, and others in the process of morphing into leaves and abstraction.

The hand is a tool, a tool of labor and the most basic tool for grabbing, pointing, possessing and signifying reality.

The hands in this series of works are pointing at nothing, grasping nothing.  The suggested gesture is pointing inward. The ‘tragedy’ of holding nothing is the end goal of this series as in a Zen practice.

The hand which points to the world eventually points to itself and becomes the world itself – vast and heterogeneous.
